Novak Djokovic is the
holder of six grand slam titles, but none of them come on clay courts of Roland
Garros. Last year, the Serb failed in the final, losing to Rafael Nadal.
Djokovic opened this
year with a good, ranging from winning the Australian Open and Dubai, and at
the Monte Carlo Masters final in a tournament though he got such bad results
when they lost in the first round of the Madrid Masters.
Djokovic came into
Roland Garros as the top seed and always appeared dominant throughout the match
to take her to meet Tommy Haas in the quarter-finals on Wednesday (05/06/2013),
which is the eighth meeting of their entire career.
Haas was one of the
opponents who managed to beat Djokovic this year, in the third round of the
Miami Masters in March.
But, this time
Djokovic was in control from the start. The first set belonged to 26-year-old
tennis player thanks to a 6-3 victory in just 30 minutes.
The second set is not
as easy as the first set. Djokovic was forced to play almost an hour to get a
7-6 tiebreak 7-5.
Djokovic ensure
victory after closing with a 7-5 third set, which took him to the semifinals to
face the strongest rival, Rafael Nadal.
This is the third
successive semifinal Djokovic at the French Open, and the 12th sequential in a
grand slam tournament since the U.S. Open in 2010.
